I’m going to start this week’s Substack with a question: has anyone reading this tried one of the weight loss injections currently turning everyone skinny like a modern day Invasion of the Body Snatchers - or should that be the Fat Snatchers?
No one knows the long term health implications yet.
I would suggest using the money on massages and yoga, to help you feel relaxed and in tune with your body and mind and help you fall in love with your body, and then the rest will follow.
Or, go on a gut health retreat instead to kick start a new regime.
I’ve taken it, and been really happy. I’d recommend getting your gut health in good condition first to minimise side effects (I used Symprove for a month to prepare) and at a size 16 - over weight but not obese, I lost 13kg in 3 months on the lowest dose (0.25). If you use the time when you’re on it, free from all the food noise and cravings, to start better food habits you can continue when you come off, then you’ll be fine. I found it excellent to help kickstart the weightloss and motivate me. I’ve been off it since May, and have put on just one kilo after a busy summer of holidays, weddings and BBQs and found it reasonably easy to maintain. Always happy to answer any questions about it!
I decided to go up a dose in May, and the side effects for me were too challenging, though I understand they do settle after a few weeks.
For me, after a very difficult pregnancy in 2022 with HG (extreme morning sickness) for 9 months, vomiting is triggering for me, and trying to balance sickness with looking after a toddler and running a business was too much to juggle.
I didn’t have those extreme side effects on the lowest dose (though there are still some) and having already lost a good amount of weight, I wanted to test how I did without it. So far so good, but I wouldn’t rule going back on it again if I needed to. I never worried about feeling like I had been cheating - I figured the most important things were health (and I carry all my weight around my middle and organs) and managing the negative talk in my head about how I looked, and breaking a habit of comfort eating when I was sad / stressed / overwhelmed etc!
I never planned to go dramatically from a size 16 to a size 6, where perhaps you see the loss in elasticity in skin and facial features. I was on Wegovy, and perhaps by staying on a lowest dose longer instead of increasing every month, I was losing at a safer and more natural rate? People noticed I lost weight, but not dramatically. I dropped a dress size and a half, and am thrilled to be a comfortable size 14. At some stage again I may go back on for a goal of size 12 and slap bang in the ‘healthy’ BMI stage. But I think going slowly and avoiding big dramatic changes will be reflected in how it affects your face.
Just do it ..you should be able to get it on the NHS if it’s available!! It’s not cheating because once you’ve shed a reasonable amount of weight you’ll learn how to maintain it ..you don’t want or need to take it for too long..just kick start you physically and more importantly mentally and then if you combine it with healthy eating and regular exercise you’ll start to feel like you’ve begun a whole new story of you ..we all love you so much but you’ll learn to love you as much ❤️
I would say, if in doubt don’t.

You’ve got this lovely 🥰

Ooh, exactly my point about changing food habits. Glad to know it’s working.
I have a few questions please (settle down with a cup of tea 😂)
Why did you come off it since May? Because you reached your goal?
Which type did you use?
Did you find the lowest dose kept nausea etc at bay? Why did you not increase?
Have you noticed any ‘ageing’? I’m wondering if older faces might suffer those effects more - I’m 57.
Thank you for allowing me to innundate you 🤗
Not a problem at all!

Hope that helps!
